SAMPLE RECIPES
CHOCOLATE CHIP APPLESAUCE CAKE
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Shortening
1 1/2 cup Sugar
2 Eggs
2 cups Applesauce
1 tsp. Vanilla
2 cups Flour
1/2 cup Nuts
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
1 tsp. Salt
1 1/2 tsp. Soda
3 Tbsp. Cocoa
2 Tbsp. Sugar
1 cup Chocolate Chips
Directions:
Beat shortening, sugar and eggs. Alternately add dry ingredients, applesauce and vanilla. Mix well. Pour in greased and floured 9" x 13" cake pan and sprinkle 2 tablespoons sugar and nuts and chocolate chips on top. Bake at 350 degrees fahrenheit for 45 minutes.
SPICY APPLE SQUARES
Ingredients:
2/3 cup Butter
1 cup Sugar
2 Eggs
1 cup Flour
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1/2 tsp. Soda
1/2 tsp. Nutmeg
1/4 tsp. Cloves (ground)
1 cup Diced Apples
3/4 cup Rolled Oats
1/2 cup Chopped Walnuts
Confectioners Sugar
Directions:
Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well. Sift together flour, baking powder, spices and soda. Gradually add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Mix well. Stir in apples, oats and nuts. Spread batter into greased 9" x 13" pan. Bake at 350 degrees fahrenheit for 25 to 30 minutes or until done. Cool in pan on rack. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar. Makes 15 bars.
